Adopting a New Pet
Choosing the proper pet for your family and lifestyle can certainly be a challenge, and the choices can be plentiful. The kind of life we lead makes a huge impact on the type of pet we choose based on the time we have to devote to its care.
When you are thinking of adopting a new pet, keep in mind that dogs can live to an average of 10-15 years of age, depending on breed, cats 13-17 years of age and some birds can live to be 50-70 years of age. When choosing a pet, don’t forget that it will be completely dependent on you for its feeding, exercise, enrichment, and environment each and every day of its life.
There are several local organizations and rescue shelters where you can find a pet including Northeast Animal Shelter and the MSPCA Animal Adoption Center.

We highly recommend researching the species or breed of pet that you are thinking of adopting. Many traits can be breed or species specific, and it is important to know what to expect when adopting a new animal. If you have any questions, feel free to set up a consultation with one of our veterinarians. We are here to assist you every step of the way to help you find the best pet for you!
